The Market Structure and Data team serves as a leading expert in helping to move the municipal market into the future by enhancing the value of municipal market data for all market participants in order to promote market intelligence, transparency, and efficiency; fuel innovation; and empower better decision making.
 

Activities

• Centralized Data Repository. The MSRB serves as the municipal market’s centralized repository for data, collecting and publicly disseminating millions of data points on municipal securities, issuers and the broader market. The MSRB’s data strategy focuses on data governance, data quality and data analytics that will provide the foundation for market participants to utilize enhanced information to make better informed decisions in the future.
   
• Research and Expertise. The MSRB monitors and analyzes the data to identify market structure trends. MSRB research activities are focused on developing and disseminating statistical products, research reports and data-driven educational resources. These activities examine municipal market topics and provide data and objective analysis to inform MSRB regulatory and other activities and to assist market participants, policymakers and the public in developing a deeper understanding of the municipal securities market. • Innovation Hub. EMMA Labs is the MSRB’s innovation sandbox, giving municipal bond market data users the opportunity to co-create the future of market transparency. EMMA Labs allows users to put prototypes to the test, helping to improve their utility and accelerate the pathway to bring enhanced market transparency tools to life on the Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA®) website.
