MSRB to Host Outreach Seminar in Los Angeles

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) will host an education and outreach event for professionals in the municipal market in Los Angeles on January 25, 2011. Industry professionals – including municipal entities, investors, municipal advisors and registered broker-dealers – can attend education sessions that will provide information about the MSRB’s expanded mission to protect municipal entities, its Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) website and municipal disclosure, and municipal advisor and dealer rulemaking. Agenda topics are described below and MSRB staff will be available at the seminar for questions and answers.

AGENDA TOPICS

I. The MSRB and Protection of the Municipal Market
This session for all municipal market participants will provide an overview of the MSRB and its expanded mission to protect municipal entities.          

II.  Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA)
This session will cover recent and upcoming enhancements to the MSRB’s Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) website.  

III. Professional Qualifications for Municipal Advisors
This session for municipal advisors will provide a forum to discuss the development of professional qualifications for advisors.

IV. Dealer Q&A
This session for brokers, dealers and municipal securities dealers will provide a forum to ask questions of the MSRB’s legal and policymaking staff.

V. Municipal Advisor Rulemaking
This session for municipal advisors will cover the MSRB’s initial rulemaking efforts with respect to municipal advisors, including registration with the MSRB.

VI. Outreach Event
Reception for all attendees of education events, with welcoming remarks from MSRB Chair Michael Bartolotta.
