MSRB’S Disclosure Forum II

Today the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) released its agenda for its Disclosure Forum II to be held in Washington, D.C. on January 11-12, 2001.  MSRB Chairman Dan Keating stated “It is clear that the municipal securities industry needs to make further progress in improving disclosure practices. Any progress is dependent on all participants in the market—issuers, financial advisors, bond counsel, dealers, and investors—working together, not on new rules being put in place. Disclosure Forum II will provide an opportunity for a dialog with all parties about where we go from here.”

Following an introduction and overview of the Forum, there will be four panel sessions on the disclosure issues relating to the primary and secondary market, pertinent legal issues, and the roles of dealers and NRMSIRs in the dissemination of disclosure. MSRB Executive Director Christopher Taylor noted that “the ideas and discussions during the panel sessions at our first Disclosure Forum produced significant results. We have high hopes for Disclosure Forum II.”
