MSRB Update: Spring 2022
Latest News from the Board: Seeking Public Comment on Enhancing Post-Trade Transparency
Message from Mark Kim, CEO
Last month, I was pleased to welcome the MSRB staff back to our office in Washington, DC after two years working remotely. We are embracing a flexible, hybrid work model as we continue to carry out our important work to protect and strengthen the municipal bond market. Our Board too has gone hybrid for its quarterly Board of Directors meeting April 26-28, with some members attending in person in DC while others joined remotely.
The Board’s discussions were as fulsome and thoughtful as ever and led to several important decisions to advance the four goals outlined in our ambitious long-term strategic plan.
Of particular note, the Board agreed to seek public comment on a retrospective review of MSRB Rule G-14 to explore shortening what constitutes "real-time" trade reporting in the municipal market. The Board also discussed preparing and publishing a summary of the diverse comments received on its request for information on ESG practices in the municipal market.
The Board had the opportunity to meet with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler to discuss how the policy priorities of the Commission intersect with the MSRB’s work to strengthen and protect the municipal market. Read the press release for further detail and to learn other highlights from the meeting.
