MSRB Holds Quarterly Board Meeting, Plans to Publish Requests for Comment
Last week, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board held its quarterly Board meeting and today announced that, in September, it will publish two notices for comment. First, the MSRB will publish an interpretive notice to help clarify dealer responsibilities in connection with municipal securities transactions in electronic trading systems. The MSRB also will publish draft amendments to rule G-36 that would allow electronic submission of official statements and advance refunding documents, as well as corresponding forms, to the Board. MSRB Chairman Robert Estrada, Chair and CEO of Estrada Hinojosa & Company, stated that, “The MSRB is committed to regulation that allows technological innovations in the market while preserving the important investor protections traditionally provided by Board rules. We believe that these notices will make this commitment clear.”
The MSRB will hold a press briefing at the time the interpretive notice is released for comment.
