MSRB Announces Education and Outreach Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia
The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) will host an education and outreach event for professionals in the municipal market in Atlanta on June 14, 2011. Industry professionals—including municipal entities, investors, dealers and municipal advisors—can attend educational sessions that will provide information about the MSRB’s expanded mission to protect municipal entities, the development of professional qualifications for municipal advisors, and municipal advisor and dealer rulemaking. Agenda topics are described below.
AGENDA TOPICS
I. The MSRB and Protection of the Municipal Market
This session for all municipal market participants will provide an overview of the MSRB and its expanded mission to protect municipal entities.
II. Municipal Advisor Rulemaking
This session for municipal advisors will cover the MSRB’s initial rulemaking efforts with respect to municipal advisors, including proposed fiduciary duty and pay to play rules.
III. Professional Qualifications for Municipal Advisors
This session for municipal advisors will cover the development of an exam for advisors and other professional qualifications issues.
IV. Dealer Q&A
This session for brokers, dealers and municipal securities dealers will provide a forum to ask questions of the MSRB’s legal and policymaking staff.
